Agile development methods are iterative, people-centric developments. Their implementation aims for better customer satisfaction, as well as the creation of fully functional software at each stage of its development.

The Scrum approach (literal translation: scrum) originates from an article published by two Japanese researchers and takes its etymological origin from an analogy with rugby. It is the most widely used method among Agile methodologies because it promotes the development of a product that can be tested against its market as quickly as possible.

The basic principle of the Scrum methodology is to deliver value iteratively and incrementally, with a focus on collaboration, self-organization, and continuous improvement.

This is a dynamic and participatory approach whose basic principle is to always be ready to reorient the project as it progresses.

This methodology promotes the development of products that match the customer's actual demand, which represents an undeniable advantage in project management.

It also allows everyone to participate in the project's evolution, rather than just the Project Manager defining the project's evolution and the group's work alone.

Why did you implement this agile transition at Technology Partner?

At Technology Partner, we used a more traditional project methodology. It involved a logic that allowed for less flexibility in adapting to needs. This could result in a divergence between the delivered product and the final requirement.

Our teams have worked hand in hand to fully implement the fundamentals of Agility and Scrum in particular. The objective is to ensure a close relationship with clients. This approach has the advantage of evolving the product we are developing while adapting to the client's real expectations, and provides visibility into the project's progress.

Agile methodologies used in information technology since the early 2000s should, in my opinion, be an extended standard across an entire organization.

What were the challenges encountered in implementing this methodology?

The Agile methodology is easy to understand but difficult to implement. Therefore, it was necessary to proceed in stages, starting with a Daily Scrum, adding Sprint Planning, then progressively Sprint Review, and finally the Sprint Retrospective.

This approach requires time, patience, and involves profound management changes within the company. Collaborative, iterative, and constructive work are the essential ingredients for developing strong trust with stakeholders and achieving lasting and efficient change.

What are the advantages & benefits of this methodology?

Agility brings a well-defined role and clearly assigned tasks to each employee, which allows for efficient organization and better satisfaction of customer expectations.

Moreover, team spirit is emphasized! Indeed, the entire team must feel involved and motivated because they are directly integrated into the project's management and evolution.

The project budget will be adhered to, which is not necessarily easy when adopting other methodologies that require additional budget beyond what was initially planned.

Finally, this approach allows us to prioritize tasks performed daily in each of our projects.
