Development of a Packaging Waste Management Solution in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg

Active since 1995, Valorlux is an association whose main mission is to ensure the separate collection, sorting, and recycling of packaging waste in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Mindful of the legal obligations for recycling and recovery of packaging waste from its member companies, referred to as «Packaging Responders,» the non-profit organization currently has 1,000 members.

These entities must forecast and declare packaging waste resulting from sales (plastics, metal, etc.) annually. This complex and tedious declaration is now automated on a portal called Valbase, thus facilitating the management, communication, and invoicing of packaging waste in the Grand Duchy.

The objective of the solution: 

Administrator goals: 

  • Remove manual entry of member packaging waste by Valorlux
  • Reduce operational risk 
  • Facilitate the addition, deletion, or encoding of materials, product families, etc.
  • Automate member billing (advances, adjustments, rebates...)
  • Enable data analysis via Power BI 

Objectives for member companies: 

  • Reduce tedious exchanges between Valorlux and members
  • Streamline packaging waste declaration time through simplified and/or detailed reporting 
  • Allow the addition, deletion, or encoding of materials, product families, etc.
  • Visualize billing
