Elisa, what was your role in this development project?
In the development of the application, on the Back-End side (the coded part that users/clients don't see), I had to develop the administrator part for our client so that they could configure all the necessary tax fields for the application's operation.
On the Front-End side (what is displayed on the screen for users/clients), I had to manage the graphical integration of the application. On one hand, I formatted the administrator part for our client to improve their comfort. On the other hand, I organized the ergonomics of the website and application for the end-user, as these are the elements with which the latter can complete a tax declaration tailored to their profile.
How long did it take your team to finish developing the app?
The development of the application took about a year. There were 4 developers, our manager, and our client on this project, and I am proud to see how far we have come.
This time was necessary, we organized numerous workshops and brainstorming sessions to accurately understand our client's needs, desires, and requests. Furthermore, as we aspire to create a real climate of trust between our client and the team, these meetings allowed our client to redefine their needs and move forward “step by step” with us.
What new techniques have you learned during this development project?
I would say that this development has mainly allowed me to deepen my skills and be more comfortable with graphic integration. Furthermore, I continued to learn .Net as there are new tips to know every day.
I also understood the necessity of using stored procedures, meaning the ease of retrieving data by reducing the number of calls to the database. As a result, I was able to save time, particularly in development, but also in data and page loading times for our client or end-users.
What are your future professional ambitions?
My short-term ambitions are, first and foremost, to improve my skills in handling multiple frameworks. On the front-end side, I would like to become more proficient in graphic integration so that I can assist other developers.
In the long term, I would like to become technically stronger in Back-End, but also in leadership in order to eventually take on the role of project manager.
